Damaging Alcohol Abuse Effects

There are many alcohol abuse effects on the body.

Few people realize how drinking alcohol can lead to serious addiction, read definition of addiction, and abuse that can often be terminal if they don't have alcohol addiction rehab treatment.

The reason I am writing about this serious disease is because it occured in my family. My partner also had a serious alcohol addiction. He landed in the hospital a few times and one time almost died from alcoholic poisoning which developed into pancreatitus.

The result of his excessive drinking led to many physical problems with his digestion system and liver, and then he developed diabetes where he had to give himself daily injections.

The List of Effects From Alcohol Abuse

  • Excessive drinking can increase the risk for certain cancers, such as cancer of the liver, rectum, colon, larynx, oesophagus, and the kidneys.

  • Alcohol abuse can also lead to immune system obstructions, cirrhosis of the liver,

  • harm to the foetus while the mother is pregnant,

  • chronic alcoholism can also lead to brain damage, impairments in neurophysiological and neurocognitive functions resulting from binge drinking

  • Alcohol abuse increases the risk of death from motor vehicle accidents as well as work-related and recreational accidents and injuries. Other negative consequences include social costs (including interpersonal violence), drunk driving, and lost economic productivity.

  • A substantial proportion of alcohol-related deaths are due to binge drinking such as homicides and suicides

  • Research has shown that there is a strong correlation between alcohol abuse and depression.

  • alcohol poisoning leading to pancreatitus

  • hypertension,
  • sexually transmitted diseases, and meningitis, among other disorders.

  • Other negative consequences include social costs (including interpersonal violence), drunk driving, and lost economic productivity.

In Summary - the negative consequences resulting from alcohol abuse effects are the following:

  1. it destroyes lives,
  2. results in loss of finances and homes,
  3. causes injuries, failed health and illnesses, and
  4. can lead to wife battering, and child abuse,
  5. causes broken homes and lastely
  6. fatalities.

All of these are alcohol abuse effects resulting from binge drinking or daily excessive alcoholic drinking which require immediate professional treatment or counselling.

In the case of my partner, he was drinking well before I met him. He was shy and very sensitive and likable. In time before he completely destroyed himself, I was able, with the help of his doctor, to get him into a alcohol addiction rehab treatment facility. At the time he was surrounded by people who used and abused him for his generous nature

I witnessed many of the above effects and I learned the true meaning of "tough love".

Yes, he slipped a few times, but eventually he overcame his drinking habit and was able to live a normal life with me and the dogs for another 12 years. He eventually died from cancer.
