Are You Aware of These
Signs of High Cholesterol?

Before I talk about the signs of high cholesterol, which I had (not the signs) and want to write about it since it can silently lead to serious diseases,  I will define cholesterol so you know what it is.

Cholesterol is a waxy substance that exists in your blood and moves through it and supplies all the cells of your body. Normally, your body makes all the cholesterol it needs through your liver, but you get it also from the foods you eat. This is why it is very important to be aware of what you are eating because certain foods produce 'bad cholesterol' (LDL, low density lipoprotein) which causes heart diseases, stroke and so on.

If you have too much of LDL in your blood, it causes hardening of the arteries which is a plaque build up on the walls of your arteries making it difficult for the blood to flow through to your heart. This can eventually lead to a blood clot, heart disease, a heart attack or stroke.

HDL (high density lipoprotein, called good cholesterol, refers to a low risk of heart disease. It is important to have a good balance of both in your blood.

My mother suffered from strokes where she lost the sight in one of her eyes. But her problem was that she ate way too many fatty foods that her doctor advised her not to eat. My mother, being stubborn, did what she wanted and did not think about the consequences.

Suggested Signs of High Cholesterol

Headache and Dizziness

Generally, you will not know if you have high cholesterol until you have a stroke, angina or heart attack. this is why it is important to have your cholesterol levels checked by your doctor.

These overall symptoms or signs of high cholesterol are suggestive of cardiovascular disease due to excessive cholesterol. The symptoms are:

  • Pain in your calves
  • Nausea, dizziness, excessive sweating
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Chest pain with tightness
  • Pain spreading to the back, jaw, shoulder and left arm, especially on one side
  • Fever, headaches
  • Shortness of breath, heart palpitations
  • Difficulty with speech

If you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms, have your doctor check your cholesterol levels.

What Causes High Cholesterol?

There could be many reasons why you have high cholesterol. It could be caused by:

  • genetics
  • hereditary
  • excessive weight
  • some diseases
  • particular medications, but most of all
  • dietary factors

In my case, I knew it was my diet and lack of exercise. I did not have any of the above symptoms, but I just knew my cholesterol was too high. And when I had it checked, that was the case.

I'll tell you what I did in natural cures for high cholesterol.
