A very important tip is to do some form of daily exercise. Diet alone is not enough.

I recommend walking as it is the easiest form of exercise; you can vary your pace and the distance you walk each day. Remember to start out with baby steps, and increase your distance each day.

Here are some simple instructions that will help you flatten your stomach and strengthen your core. You can do these anywhere, standing at the sink washing dishes, driving in your car, watching TV, working on computer which I do. They are called

Ab vacuums

  • You can do them standing, seated (such as in a car), kneeling in a four-point position, or even lying flat on the floor.  I do them both  seated or standing.
  • The movement is simple. Pull in your belly button as far as you can by imagining you're trying to touch your belly button to your spine and holding for 10-20 seconds at a time.
  • Start by inhaling deeply. Then, as you exhale, start pulling the belly button in towards the spine and hold it there for 10-20 seconds while just taking short breaths. Repeat for several of these 10-20 second holds, perhaps 5-10x standing by your sink or driving the car.  Just repeating 3-4x every time you're driving somewhere can really add up over time and give you the benefit of a flatter belly!
  • Get in the habit of doing this at least 4-5 days per week while driving somewhere and you may find that this helps to flatten your stomach more by strengthening the transversus abdominis muscle (the deep abdominal muscles beneath the rectus abdominis) if you previously had a "lazy belly". this exercise also strengthens your back muscles and will cut down on back pain.

I have a lazy belly so I have to do this exercise which is really easy!

  • How you feel matters as much as what you eat.

    Mealtimes should be pleasant, serene, or jovial.

Saying prayer giving thanks for your food always helps, and during your prayer you can also ask that your food be cleansed of all toxins and sulfates.

  • Make your meal as colorful as possible: Each color has a mineral and vitamin value: red, black and blue means iron; greens mean magnesium; orange and yellow means vitamin A. Remember that seasonal foods are at their highest value in color and nutrients.
  • Vary your diet daily: Four to six different vegetables a day and eat at least three, which grow above ground; at least one piece of fruit, preferable two; protein; very few starches; and plenty of fruit and vegetable juices (natural-I advise getting a juicer) and water, but not at the same time as eating solids.
  • Eat a diet that maintains a proper acid-alkaline balance: This means about 80 alkaline and 20 percent acid.
  • Half of your diet should be raw: Eat as many fruits, vegetables, sprouts (make your own) nuts and seeds as possible raw. When cooking, steam, bake, par broil when possible, using remaining liquids to drink. Avoid salt, which draws out nutrients and moisture, and avoid fried and fatty foods. Only cook as many vegetables as you use immediately as refrigeration causes loss of food value.
  • Combine Green Tea with baking soda - I use baking soda for all sorts of things in my home but I didn't know about this one which aids in losing weight while exercising.

  •  Eat fruits and vegetables at separate meals.
  • Avoid eating concentrated proteins and starches together (no meat and potatoes together)
  • Avoid eating carbohydrates with acid foods (no fruit with pasta or bread)
  • Avoid eating concentrated starches with concentrated sugars (any cereal with sugar or winter squash with honey)
  • Drink your beverage (don't drink soda nor use cans) separately from your meals, especially if you have digestion problems. It is important to drink lots of water.
